Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Inspector to join our team at the Environmental Protection Agency. As a Fire Protection Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our facilities and personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular inspections of fire protection systems and equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Investigate and report on fire incidents, identifying root causes and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and implement fire safety training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure fire safety is integrated into all aspects of our operations.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest fire safety technologies and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve our fire safety protocols.
Requirements
  • At least one year of specialized experience in fire protection and prevention, including experience with fire safety inspections, investigations, and training.
  • Knowledge of recognized standards covering fire protection and prevention techniques and procedures, including agency and installation manuals, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to develop and conduct training, education, and information programs for a variety of client groups.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, contractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to recognize new or unusual types of combustibles or other hazardous materials, determine their fire expectancy and severity, and adapt fire protection/prevention techniques to correct conditions or hazardous situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as a Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor I, and Hazmat Awareness, Hazmat Operations, Airport Firefighter (includes Firefighter I, II).
  • Experience with fire safety software and systems, including fire alarm and suppression systems.
  • Knowledge of health and environmental safety requirements as outlined in applicable safety standards, regulations, and/or technical orders.
