Position Overview

The Warehouse Coordinator plays a crucial role in assisting the supervisor with the oversight and management of the warehousing operations. Key performance metrics include Safety, Quality, Cost Efficiency, Lead Time, Employee Engagement, and Environmental Responsibility. This role adheres to established work protocols and promotes safe work practices to optimize the efficiency and safety of the warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise employee safety and productivity levels
  • Ensure facility security during assigned shifts
  • Maintain product quality in line with established standards
  • Confirm cleanliness of equipment, premises, and structures in accordance with GMP standards
  • Oversee adherence to quality processes and procedures, taking immediate corrective action or reporting discrepancies as necessary
  • Coordinate staffing requirements based on warehouse schedules and liaise with staffing agencies
  • Evaluate employee skills and arrange necessary training to ensure proficiency in equipment settings and operational procedures
  • Engage in and promote continuous improvement initiatives among team members
  • Monitor warehouse operations and processes, ensuring equipment and procedures align with departmental goals
  • Prepare equipment and materials for operational readiness prior to scheduled start times
  • Analyze picking data to assess performance and implement improvement strategies
  • Collaborate with other departments (materials management, production, maintenance, processing, and quality) to fulfill operational requirements
  • Conduct physical inventory checks with the team
  • Ensure Material Handlers are verifying the quality of incoming and outgoing materials
  • Develop and refine procedures, SOPs, and instructions as needed, overseeing their implementation
  • Review daily results, lead shift meetings to communicate performance objectives and outcomes
  • Allocate resources based on performance data and supply chain limitations
  • Input data and performance indicators for daily departmental needs
  • Communicate warehouse-related issues or activities to relevant departments and management as necessary
  • Ensure all project requirements are appropriately scheduled
  • Rotate employees in response to safety or quality concerns
  • Participate in the Continuous Improvement Process
  • Adhere to all Quality policies & procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Follow all Safety policies & procedures and engage in monthly safety observations

Supervisory Role

This position collaborates closely with the supervisor to guide employees but does not have direct reports.

Work Environment

The role is situated within a manufacturing setting characterized by:

  • Frequent exposure to cold environments
  • Regular exposure to noise and vibrations
  • Occasional exposure to wet conditions

Personal protective equipment, including steel-toed shoes, coveralls, safety glasses, and hard hats, is mandatory.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands outlined here are representative of those required for successful performance in this role:

  • Continuous or frequent standing
  • Frequent bending and stooping
  • Occasional squatting and crawling
  • Occasional climbing of stairs or ladders
  • Occasional reaching at various levels
  • Occasional pushing and pulling of up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs.

Position Type and Work Hours

This is a full-time role with variable days and hours based on departmental needs. Overtime and weekend work may be necessary.

Travel Requirements

No travel is required for this position.

Education and Experience Requirements

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Excel, Outlook, and Word
  3. Mechanical aptitude
  4. Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, and comprehension)
  5. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a warehouse setting

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Strong analytical capabilities
  2. Experience with Continuous Improvement Processes
  3. 1-2 years of experience in a leadership capacity
  4. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English

Food Safety and Quality Assurance

This role is responsible for supporting the food safety management system and communicating any food safety concerns to the Quality Department.
