Position Overview:

As a key member of the management team, the Warehouse Operations Director will report directly to the Operations Manager of a reputable specialty transportation firm, recognized for its diverse offerings including Rigging, Millwright services, Crating & Packaging, Industrial Storage, and Heavy Haul Trucking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant warehouse environment.
  • Oversee the management and storage of heavy machinery, equipment, and materials, including those for high-rise construction.
  • Implement effective inventory control measures and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational success.
  • Set and achieve warehouse and team objectives in alignment with executive management.
  • Identify and execute improvements in inventory management and operational procedures.
  • Supervise the receiving, storage, and dispatch of materials and equipment.
  • Develop and enforce inventory management practices to maximize space and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics to ensure timely material delivery.
  • Manage conflicting priorities and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Oversee the Warehouse Storage Manager and ensure equipment maintenance for optimal performance.
  • Train and mentor staff on best practices for handling heavy and delicate materials.
  • Work closely with project managers to align material delivery and storage needs.
  • Monitor daily operations, swiftly addressing any challenges to maintain service quality.
  • Assess labor requirements and output needs for warehouse operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.
  • Implement and uphold safety protocols to ensure a secure workplace.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance and safety concerns.
  • Document safety inspection activities and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  • Foster a culture of safety and compliance among warehouse staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and warehouse activities.
  • Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational success.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse management within construction or manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong grasp of inventory management principles and best practices.
  • Proficient in warehouse management software.
  • Experience with heavy machinery and construction materials.
  • Familiarity with handling delicate materials such as glass.
  • Certification in forklift operation and other warehouse equipment.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • High School Diploma required; a college degree is preferred.
