The Boulder Public Library District (BPLD) is dedicated to promoting equity within our diverse community by offering accessible programs, both print and digital resources, technology, and educational opportunities. With five locations, we proudly provide a variety of resources including a makerspace, art exhibitions, outdoor learning spaces, a multimedia local history archive, community literacy initiatives, and a theater. Position Summary: The Creative Content Specialist will be responsible for crafting engaging, long-form content for news releases, landing pages, and various promotional materials. This role requires a solid understanding of media planning, program promotion, and event marketing. Additionally, the candidate will be tasked with updating the library's website content to ensure accuracy and compliance with accessibility standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compose and refine long-form content for multiple platforms, including news releases, landing pages, library articles, newsletters, and more. (30%)
  • Develop and execute media strategies to promote library programs and events. (30%)
  • Collaborate with the program team to create and implement promotional tactics. (20%)
  • Update and manage the library's website, ensuring content remains accurate and current. (20%)

Additional Duties:

  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of promotional campaigns, adjusting strategies as necessary to enhance performance.
  • Coordinate with other library departments to gather information and ensure consistent messaging.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in content creation, media planning, and digital marketing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing long-form content for news releases, landing pages, and promotional materials.
  • Strong grasp of media planning and digital marketing strategies.
  • Experience with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading abilities.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with design tools such as Canva, Adobe, and multimedia production.
  • Experience conducting customer research and analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Experience with community outreach.
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or experience with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Working Conditions:

Primarily office-based work, which may include extended periods of time viewing a computer monitor and operating a keyboard. Requires sufficient manual dexterity to operate a computer, office, and library equipment. Adequate personal mobility and physical reflexes are necessary to work in a multilevel facility. Visual, auditory, and verbal communication skills are essential.
