As a key member of our Display Technologies division, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the exceptional performance of our display systems through the meticulous design, production, and integration of optical components within Apple devices.

From the initial design phase to large-scale manufacturing, you will create cutting-edge display solutions for a diverse range of Apple products, including the Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

These displays are the primary interface through which millions of Apple users engage with our technology every day. Collaborating with cross-functional teams across Apple, you will contribute to making each user interaction a seamless and enchanting experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing opportunities for enhancing display, camera, and sensor performance through advanced optical components.
  • Defining and selecting equipment for high-volume manufacturing processes, including deposition, patterning, and etching, for complex nano-fabricated optical components to meet new design and functional specifications.
  • Leading cross-functional collaboration with Product Design, Engineering/Operations, and guiding international suppliers in delivering optical components and modules.
  • Conducting root cause analysis and troubleshooting to enhance component performance and resolve failures.
  • Establishing Engineering Requirement Specifications (ERS) for optical components, including Incoming Quality Control (IQC), Outgoing Quality Control (OQC), and In-Process Quality Control (IPQC).
  • Delivering detailed presentations and reports to a wide range of stakeholders, including management, peers, and suppliers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Engineering Physics, Material Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in nano-optics manufacturing processes, including deposition, lithography, nano-imprint, and etching.
  • Expertise in thin film or nanostructure optical design and modeling, as well as process characterization.
  • Familiarity with thin film understanding and nanostructure metrology techniques (XPS, SEM, TEM, AFM, XRD, SIMS, FT-IR, etc.) and optical device characterization methods (interferometry, spectroscopy, ellipsometry, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Practical experience and a proven track record in optics, optical coatings, or advanced semiconductor process technology development.
  • Knowledge of diffraction optics, metasurface optics, or nanophotonics.
  • Experience with simulation software for optical, FEA, or Multiphysics applications, such as COMSOL.

Compensation & Benefits:

At Apple, the base salary is one component of our comprehensive compensation package, which is determined within a specified range. This structure allows for growth and advancement as you develop in your role.

The base salary range for this position is between $175,800 and $312,200, depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary employee stock programs, enabling them to become shareholders.

Additionally, employees may be eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
