Category Manager Role at Paradigm

Paradigm, an innovative software firm transforming the residential, construction, and building product sectors worldwide, is in search of a Category Manager to significantly impact these industries.

In this essential role, you will concentrate on developing and managing our product offerings to meet the needs of the residential construction market, particularly in interior design areas such as appliances, lighting, plumbing fixtures, flooring, tile, paint, and cabinetry. As the Category Manager, you will serve as a vital connection between our platform and manufacturers/distributors, ensuring we address market demands while positioning our platform as the leading e-commerce hub for homebuilders. Your efforts will be crucial in driving our company's growth, profitability, and competitive advantage in the building materials sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Crafting, advocating for, and implementing category strategies that align with corporate goals, thoroughly documenting plans for stakeholder understanding.
  • Conducting extensive market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges within each product category relevant to homebuilders.
  • Building strong relationships with manufacturers, brands, and marketplace sellers to remain informed about market dynamics and emerging product trends.
  • Overseeing the collection of product information from manufacturers, establishing criteria for prompt and informed product selection.
  • Managing the visual and textual representation of products in the category, ensuring listings are optimized for an effortless shopping experience.
  • Enhancing category growth by achieving sales and profitability objectives through strategic assortment planning.
  • Collaborating with software teams to create marketplace functionalities that support effective product presentation and selection, in addition to working with the product information team to streamline data access and collection.
  • Monitoring seller performance within assigned categories, providing feedback to improve customer service and product quality standards.
  • Regularly assessing category performance against established goals, delivering reports to management, and adjusting strategies as necessary to maximize results.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of material lists generated from our tools and verifying product availability for sale.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Interior Design, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of single-family residential construction practices.
  • A minimum of 4 years in category management, ideally with at least 7 years of experience.
  • Experience in materials sales to builders, procurement roles, or design center positions assisting homebuyers in product selection is beneficial.
  • Comprehensive product knowledge in assigned categories, including detailed application insights, distinguishing features, and benefits, as well as interrelations among various products.
  • Solid background in collaborating with manufacturers and distributors in the construction industry.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and market insights.
  • Attention to detail, with an understanding of customer product evaluation and selection processes.
  • Prior experience in e-commerce, with proficiency in presenting product information to facilitate quick decision-making.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to promote cross-team collaboration and maintain strong external partnerships, ensuring consistent and effective communication of progress.
