Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a unique blend of education, training, and experience. As a Transition Employment Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting students with disabilities as they transition from high school to the workforce.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide internship training and support to students with disabilities at various job sites, ensuring they receive the necessary skills and guidance to succeed in the workforce.
  • Transport students to and from job sites, maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for all passengers.
  • Assist staff with record-keeping and provide clerical support, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of student progress.
  • Collaborate with business owners to adjust tasks and ensure students receive a quality work experience.
  • Perform safety inspections and maintain the vehicle to ensure a safe and reliable mode of transportation.
  • Prepare and submit reports, including pre-trip inspection forms, mileage and student attendance, and other required documentation.
  • Provide clerical support, including copying, collating, answering phones, and typing correspondence and reports.
  • Act as a liaison between students, staff, and business owners, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Some knowledge of childhood growth and development, behavior management techniques, and exceptional education local policy and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise children, perform basic clerical tasks, communicate effectively, and operate a large vehicle safely and punctually.
  • Valid VA Driver's License required, CDL License with passenger endorsement recommended.
  • Meets physical qualifications for school bus drivers and completes state-approved school bus driver training course.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a school or office environment, with occasional exposure to outside weather conditions while transporting students. The noise level is moderate to loud, and the employee is exposed to environmental and health factors associated with transporting students and driving a large vehicle.
