Your responsibilities may involve focusing on a specific station for food prep or rotating through various tasks such as dishwashing or line cooking, depending on the shift's requirements. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, adept at transitioning between tasks without compromising quality. This role is vital within our gastrobar and the broader culinary industry. You take pride in your work, readily assisting colleagues and willing to handle any task, including cleaning and waste disposal. Your sincere concern for others contributes to our business's success, as our guests return time and again to savor their Bar Louie favorites, consistently prepared by you.
Position Responsibilities

- Master all prep items to ensure efficient preparation, labeling, rotation, and storage, adhering strictly to recipe specifications and required par levels.
- Guarantee that all food is maintained, stored, and served at appropriate temperatures.
- Control costs by accurately preparing each menu item.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, practicing cleanliness throughout your shift.
- Work independently or collaboratively as needed, demonstrating the ability to cross-train in various roles.
- Follow directions and communicate effectively with management and peers to achieve goals.
- Complete opening and closing tasks efficiently, including managing deliveries, dishwashing, and setting up or breaking down the line to ensure readiness for success.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures as communicated by management.
- Provide accurate availability and maintain consistent attendance by regularly checking the schedule.
- Comply with all company and governmental health and safety regulations, emphasizing Human Safety, Food Safety, and Chemical Safety and Sanitation Standards.
Skills and Abilities
- Effective communication skills with managers and team members.
- Ability to foster and maintain positive relationships with team members and management.
- Proficiency in reading and following both written and verbal instructions.
- Capability to memorize, prepare, and present all menu items according to specifications.
- Safe handling of knives and kitchen equipment.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- High standards of personal hygiene.
Education and Training
- Culinary training or education is preferred.
- Familiarity with restaurant preparation and cooking techniques.
- Food safety certification where required by law.
- 3-6 months of relevant experience or training is preferred.
Basic Physical Requirements
In a gastrobar setting, team members must be capable of fulfilling the location's duties, which may include: lifting up to 10 pounds consistently and up to 50 pounds as necessary, lifting from floor to shoulder height regularly, and occasionally overhead. Frequent twisting and reaching, as well as grasping objects, are required. Team members will work in varying temperature environments for extended periods and may occasionally come into contact with colleagues in a compact workspace. Prolonged standing and walking are expected, along with frequent hand washing and sanitation. Proficiency in using knives, slicing equipment, and other food preparation tools is essential. Team members must also effectively communicate with guests and fellow team members while using handheld and desktop devices.
