Brown and Caldwell is offering an exciting opportunity for a full-time Marketing and Proposal Specialist within our dynamic engineering, environmental consulting, and construction firm.

The successful applicant will closely collaborate with senior marketing and sales leaders to monitor opportunities and devise strategies to secure work in competitive markets; develop persuasive proposals, presentations, and marketing materials; and maintain systems and tools to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.

The position encompasses a variety of sales and marketing support functions as detailed below.

Detailed Overview:


The Marketing and Proposal Specialist supports sales, marketing, and business development initiatives, including strategic client engagement, proposal tracking, crafting persuasive proposals, presentations, and marketing materials, writing articles, team development and training, and maintaining systems and tools to foster overall efficiency and effectiveness.

Marketing and Proposal Specialists work in close partnership with senior leaders, including Senior Marketing Specialists, Marketing Managers, and Senior Technical Staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Proposal and Presentation Development:

Collaborate with pursuit teams on initiatives for municipal clients to enhance our positioning and deliver proposals that resonate with our clients.


Responsibilities include coordinating all aspects of pursuits:
strategy formulation, messaging, formatting, proofreading, coordination with graphics, editing/review, compliance, brand adherence, and efficient and timely production.

Client Engagement:

Provides general business development support to facilitate client engagement by client service managers, including assembling information packages, connecting client service managers to other clients, experts, and opportunities within the organization, organizing client workshops and special events, and maintaining marketing files.

Collaborate with Client Service Managers to understand and respond to client needs, meetings, and events.

Business Development:
Contributes to enhancements in the company marketing process to support efficiency and overall sales program effectiveness. Provides planning support for key conferences to maximize presence and investment.

Marketing Information Management:

Oversees the process to create and maintain well-organized, up-to-date qualifications statements, project descriptions, and resumes that reflect the firm's strengths and client benefits.

Ensures timely entry of accurate and complete opportunity information and products in the company tracking system.

Market Sector and Service Line Development:

Coordinate with other marketers and senior technical staff to implement market sector and service line initiatives. Support events, communications, and branding efforts to enhance Brown and Caldwell's position in the market.



Qualifications and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or Marketing is preferred, along with 5+ years of experience in a related role. Experience in engineering, environmental, architectural, and/or construction fields is advantageous.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on superior persuasive writing and presentation abilities. Experience in coaching others in interviews/presentations is preferred.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work independently as well as in team environments, often under tight deadlines.
Highly skilled in persuasive writing.
Ability to identify key issues and patterns from partial or conflicting data.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Experience with InDesign is preferred.
Willingness to travel regionally up to 25%.
