Job Overview

Position Summary: Augmentjobs is in search of a seasoned and strategic Chief Legal Officer to manage all legal dimensions of our enterprise. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Legal Strategy and Compliance:
    • Formulate and execute legal strategies that align with the organization's mission and objectives.
    • Guarantee compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
    • Stay abreast of legal and regulatory changes that may affect the organization and propose proactive measures.
  2. Contract Oversight and Negotiation:
    • Examine, draft, and negotiate a diverse array of contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
    • Oversee the contract lifecycle from initiation through execution and renewal.
    • Provide insights on contract interpretation and enforceability matters.
  3. Risk Management and Litigation:
    • Identify legal risks and devise strategies to mitigate them.
    • Manage litigation and disputes, including coordinating with external legal counsel as needed.
    • Conduct investigations and respond to legal claims or regulatory inquiries.
  4. Corporate Governance and Compliance:
    • Advise on corporate governance issues and ensure adherence to corporate policies and procedures.
    • Support the board of directors and senior management on governance matters and decision-making processes.
    • Oversee corporate filings, registrations, and disclosures.
  5. Intellectual Property and Data Privacy:
    • Manage intellectual property portfolios, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
    • Ensure compliance with data privacy laws and regulations.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures for data protection and information security.
  6. Team Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Lead and mentor a team of legal professionals, providing guidance and support in daily operations.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, HR, and operations, to support organizational goals and initiatives.
    • Build and maintain relationships with external legal counsel, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  7. Legal Training and Education:
    • Design and deliver legal training programs for employees on pertinent legal issues and compliance requirements.
    • Foster a culture of legal compliance and ethical conduct throughout the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the Bar.

  • Proven leadership experience managing a legal team and providing strategic legal counsel to senior management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound legal judgments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex legal issues to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit law, tax-exempt organizations, and regulatory compliance preferred.

Additional Information:

  • This is a full-time position. Occasional travel may be required for meetings, conferences, or legal proceedings.
  • The Chief Legal Officer reports directly to the appropriate senior executive and plays a crucial role in safeguarding and advancing the organization's legal interests.
