Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY for Crew Member:

Accountable for delivering an exceptional guest experience by consistently offering high-quality food, outstanding service, and a pristine restaurant atmosphere for Jack in the Box patrons through the execution of various workstations in alignment with established procedures and company standards for food safety, guest service, and cleanliness.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Guest Interaction: Exemplifies a "guest-first" mentality; maintains a genuine smile and a welcoming demeanor; ensures guests feel appreciated and valued; communicates politely and clearly with guests in English or the primary language spoken in the restaurant's area. Guarantees the promptness, quality, and precision of all orders; demonstrates a sense of urgency. Effectively addresses guest concerns using the C.A.R.E. Model - courtesy, apology, resolution, extra effort.

Team Collaboration: Fosters positive relationships with fellow team members and consistently shows respect and care; engages in behaviors that contribute to a fun, friendly, clean, and safe work environment; maintains personal and uniform cleanliness; supports and encourages colleagues; assists in training new staff as required.

Workstation Operations: Adheres to company procedures and standards while performing all workstation tasks.


Guest Service (Dine-In/Drive-Thru) - Promptly acknowledges and greets guests; takes and clarifies orders, assists guests with menu choices as necessary; inputs orders into the system, processes payments, and provides change; ensures guests receive requested condiments; expresses gratitude to guests for their visit. Assembles orders, collaborates with back-up positions to ensure timely and accurate preparation, and personally delivers orders to guests. Maintains cleanliness and organization of the work area.

Grill Operations - Monitors grill video displays to identify items that require preparation. Prepares menu items, including toasting or grilling bread products, cooking items on the grill, operating timers, and removing products when timers signal. Disposes of ingredients/products that are expired or do not meet quality standards. Sets up and maintains equipment; keeps workstations stocked; ensures cleanliness of the work area while wearing appropriate safety gear.

Assembly Tasks - Interprets video displays and assembles products using the correct ingredients and portion sizes, accurately packages items, and verifies the appearance, quality, and temperature of products before delivering them to guests. Disposes of any expired or substandard ingredients/products.

Preparation Duties - Places frozen items in designated areas for defrosting, organizes defrosted products in proper containers and storage areas, and arranges items for first-in, first-out rotation; opens product packaging, stores items correctly, and labels them with shelf life information. Ensures all food preparation and storage areas are maintained in a neat and clean condition, adhering to company food safety standards. Inspects all ingredients for freshness visually. Measures, assembles, and prepares ingredients for various menu items according to product mix specifications.

Fryer Operations - Monitors fryer video displays to identify items that need preparation. Prepares fryer items by placing products in the appropriate racks/baskets and into the correct fryers, operating timers, and removing/draining products when timers signal. Codes products and places them in suitable containers or holding bins. Maintains cleanliness and stock levels in workstation areas, including the fryer prep area, display bins, freezers, refrigerators, and holders.

Interior Maintenance - Empties trash receptacles, sweeps and mops floors, vacuums carpets, cleans tables and chairs, washes windows and doors; maintains and stocks restrooms. Cleans and sanitizes dishes and utensils by hand or using a dishwasher. Changes or filters fryer shortening while wearing required safety equipment, scrubs fryer units, disposes of old shortening, and cleans vents and fryer screens. Maintains cleanliness of equipment, including storage freezers, refrigerators, drink dispensers, ice bins, syrup lines, grease catch pans, and POS equipment. Cleans various interior items (e.g., dusts menu boards, order counters, etc.). Conducts visual inspections of all areas for cleanliness.

Exterior Maintenance - Sweeps and collects litter in parking lots, drive-thru areas, sidewalks, and curbs. Empties trash bins and cleans various exterior items (e.g., drive-thru menu boards). Cleans drive-thru and dumpster areas. Conducts visual inspections of all areas for cleanliness.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Currently attending high school or a graduate of high school/GED/foreign equivalent preferred. Ongoing commitment to education and/or learning new skills.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment, preparing and cooking food in a high-volume setting preferred. Customer service experience is beneficial.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must be at least 16 years old. Understands and communicates clearly in English; may require the ability to speak another language based on the restaurant's location. Ability to read and comprehend written English, perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication); manage multiple tasks simultaneously; and work effectively in a team setting. Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior.
  • Physical Requirements: Able to stand and walk approximately 90%-95% of the shift; ability to lift and carry 15-25 lbs. Ability to listen to guests' orders, operate a cash register, and read video displays. Ability to move freely throughout the restaurant.
