As a key member of our newsroom, you will be responsible for assigning and tracking news crews, identifying and developing daily content, and writing and posting content to our station website and social media sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assign and track news crews to ensure efficient coverage of breaking news and daily events
- Develop and maintain a strong network of contacts and sources to generate enterprise story ideas
- Write and post compelling and accurate content to our station website and social media sites
- Monitor scanners and react to breaking news, making beat checks and monitoring web sites and social media to stay ahead of developing news
- Assist in the efficient operations of the assignment desk, ensuring seamless coverage of news events
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Commitment to journalistic standards of ethics and accuracy
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well under pressure
- Basic computer knowledge and word processing skills
- General knowledge and interest in local, national, and world news
- Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
