Position OverviewRole Summary

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deliver expert Virtualization Engineering and design assistance across a diverse array of technologies, encompassing VMware vSphere 7.x+, High Availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), and Virtual Switches (both standard and distributed).
  • Architect and deploy VMware vSphere/ESXi, Horizon, and SAN Technologies, along with other Virtualization frameworks.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance and support for multiple small data center systems through Engineering and integration of various servers, VMware ESXi Servers, and Virtual Machines.
  • Conduct independent high-level implementations of designs for enterprise application systems.
  • Engineer and design the foundational structure of the system, defining critical core design features and elements that establish the Virtualization system framework.
  • Collaborate in the creation of acceptance tests and requirements for complex systems, working alongside designers, test engineers, and users to ensure all high-level requirements are satisfied, particularly regarding the computer-human interface.
  • Create virtualization architectural schematics and diagrams.
  • Develop and maintain all virtual workstation and server images.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards by maintaining virus definitions, patch versions, and security baselines in line with current government regulations, such as DISA STIG and CIS Benchmark.
  • Evaluate proposed enhancements and modifications from field units, maintenance personnel, and contractors/vendors for feasibility, providing constructive feedback to the Integrated Product Team (IPT).
  • Prepare firmware devices for software upgrades, including erasing, programming, verifying, and marking programmable devices.
  • Potential travel within the continental United States (0-30%).
Qualifications

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
  • Ability to obtain Security+ and VMware or VCP certification within six months.
  • Proficient in VMware vSphere usage.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in implementing and maintaining a VMware VDI (View/Horizon) environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience supporting a VMware vSphere 7.x+ environment and its components.
  • 1+ years of experience with VMware Horizon and its components, including Dell, AMD, and WYSE Zero Clients.
  • Familiarity with software-defined storage architecture, SAN Technologies, RAID, disk subsystems, file systems, snapshots, replication, and deduplication.
  • Basic networking skills with a general understanding of VLANs and subnets.
  • Knowledge of IA Controls (DISA STIGS) for Windows and Linux systems.
  • Experience with backup and restoration operations for Linux operating systems using commercial off-the-shelf products (COTS), such as KickStart scripts.
  • Experience in creating manual restoration processes or scripted implementations for both backup and recovery operations for Linux systems.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows 10/11 engineering, optimization, and automation.
  • Experience in developing, testing, and deploying configuration baselines based on DISA STIG and Center for Internet Security (CIS) Benchmark.
  • Experience transitioning from physical systems (hardware) to virtual systems (P2V).
  • Experience troubleshooting, patching, and administering Linux distributions (RHEL).
  • Experience troubleshooting, patching, and administering VMware ESXi servers and vSphere vCenter Server.
  • Experience in installing and configuring VMware ESXi Servers and Hypervisors.
NOTE: This position requires U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a U.S. government security clearance at the secret level.
