Job Title: Director of Gift Planning

Join Johns Hopkins University & Medicine in a dynamic role that supports the institution's mission to advance research, teaching, and patient care. As the Director of Gift Planning, you will play a critical part in fostering enduring relationships with donors, alumni, and volunteer leaders to secure philanthropic support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive gift planning strategies to facilitate major current and deferred gifts.
  • Provide counsel and support to Associate Deans, Directors of Development, and Major Gift Officers to identify, cultivate, and secure planned gifts.
  • Lead the promotion of planned giving techniques that achieve personal charitable objectives and result in lifetime and testamentary gifts with substantial benefits.
  • Oversee the comprehensive training program for the Office of Gift Planning, ensuring that all staff members have the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively engage with donors.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years' experience in institutional advancement, with a focus on gift planning services.
  • Related experience in legal, accounting, tax, or financial fields may be considered in lieu of direct gift planning experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated success in planned giving fundraising, preferably in a medical and education setting.
  • Ability to handle multiple, complex fundraising activities simultaneously and coordinate solicitation strategies in a decentralized environment.
  • Superlative interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work well with people at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to plan and implement a fundraising plan, with a focus on achieving strategic goals.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex goals and aspirations for all audiences.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
