Job Title: Director of Development

At Johns Hopkins University, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development to join our Development and Alumni Relations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development efforts for the Carey Business School, with a focus on cultivating and soliciting major gifts from alumni, friends, and corporate partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy for the Carey Business School, aligned with the university's overall development goals and objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including alumni, friends, and corporate partners, to identify and cultivate major gift opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Development and Alumni Relations to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan, including direct mail, special events, and major gifts.
  • Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, including identifying, cultivating, and soliciting gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
  • Work closely with the Development and Alumni Relations team to ensure effective communication and coordination of development efforts across the university.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students, to ensure a strong understanding of the university's development goals and objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices in development and fundraising, and apply this knowledge to improve the effectiveness of the development program.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Seven years of experience in development and fundraising, with a focus on major gifts.
  • Proven track record of success in developing and implementing comprehensive development strategies, and in cultivating and soliciting major gifts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
