Job Title: Director of Planning and Architecture

Johns Hopkins University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Planning and Architecture to join our team. As a key member of our Planning and Architecture department, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning and design of university facilities, ensuring that they meet the needs of our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the planning and design of university facilities, including buildings, landscapes, and infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement planning and design strategies that align with the university's goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students, to ensure that planning and design efforts meet their needs.
  • Manage and oversee the work of architects, engineers, and other design professionals.
  • Ensure that planning and design efforts are aligned with university policies and procedures.
  • Develop and manage budgets for planning and design projects.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Planning and Architecture team.
Requirements:
  • Professional degree in architecture or a related field.
  • Professional architect license in the state of Maryland or a state with reciprocity.
  • At least 20 years of experience in architectural planning and design work.
  • Experience with construction and renovation of a broad variety of building types, mechanical and electrical systems, and construction delivery methods.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in architecture or a related field.
  • LEED Accredited Professional.
  • Experience managing teams of 4 or more individuals.
  • Ability to use MS Office, AutoCAD, and Revit.
