Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences to join our team at Johns Hopkins University. This is a unique opportunity to lead the development efforts for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, working closely with the Chair, faculty, and staff to advance the department's research, teaching, and patient care mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the department's priorities, including research, education, and patient care.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including faculty, staff, alumni, and donors, to identify and secure major and principal gifts.
  • Collaborate with the Chair, department administrators, and development colleagues to establish strategies and priorities for development activity within the department.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of the next comprehensive fundraising campaign for the department, working closely with the Chair, faculty, and staff to ensure alignment with the department's goals and objectives.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to a team of development professionals, including a director of principal gifts, a senior associate director of development, an associate director of development, and a senior development coordinator.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in major and principal gifts development, preferably in medicine.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in supervising and developing a team of development professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, alumni, and donors at all levels.
  • A broad understanding of multi-faceted campaign planning, implementation, and management, with experience in developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate and translate complex goals, mission, and aspirations of the program for all audiences.
What We Offer

Johns Hopkins University offers a competitive salary range of $99,790 - $174,999, with a targeted salary of $160,000, commensurate with experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
