We are seeking an Automation Systems Engineer to enhance our national Automation Systems practice, which offers comprehensive services across various industries and market sectors. This role involves providing assessments, planning, design, programming/configuration, testing & commissioning, and maintenance of automation systems.

The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in the planning, design, and execution of automated process control and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, collaborating with clients and multidisciplinary teams to devise solutions for implementation across diverse sectors such as technology, media, telecommunications, energy, food and beverage, logistics, manufacturing, mining, transportation, and water/wastewater.

In this capacity, the Automation Systems Engineer will either serve as the Engineer of Record or work under the guidance of a Senior Automation Systems Engineer to design intricate building/process control and SCADA systems, aiding in the evaluation and selection of equipment and system components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site visits to client facilities to evaluate and document existing control systems.
  • Lead and participate in design review and planning discussions with clients.
  • Develop preliminary engineering reports and studies aimed at recommending and formulating solutions for control system enhancements.
  • Act as Engineer of Record for the creation of biddable and technically precise SCADA/I&C construction documents.
  • Collaborate with Electrical and Process Engineers to ensure comprehensive coordination of design requirements for network, power, control, and instrumentation.
  • Assist in the selection and specification of process instrumentation, control panels, and network equipment.
  • Contribute to the development of accurate SCADA/I&C construction documents, including P&IDs, network architecture diagrams, control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, installation details, loop drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Support system testing and commissioning activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with BIM I&C programs.
  • Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with a Mechanical emphasis.
  • Experience in network design for Industrial Control or SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of remote site telemetry communications and cybersecurity considerations for Industrial Control or SCADA systems.
  • Familiarity with network, PLC, DCS, or DDC hardware/software, and SCADA/HMI software used in various applications.
  • Experience in building automation, data centers, food & beverage, energy, industrial, mining, manufacturing, or logistics.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience in PLC/WTP and WWTP software programming.
  • Hands-on experience in designing SCADA systems, including schematics and loops.
  • Proven experience managing control systems projects.
  • Knowledge of automation hardware and software from various manufacturers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
