  • Our Education & Career Services program equips individuals with the necessary tools to build secure and prosperous futures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

NMIC is seeking a highly organized Development and Communications Specialist to join our Development team. This role is essential in enhancing NMIC's outreach efforts by assisting in the creation of newsletters, external communications, digital media content, outreach materials, website updates, fundraising documentation, and marketing initiatives. Some administrative tasks will also be part of this role. The ideal candidate is dedicated, resourceful, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively, with a strong commitment to fostering positive social change. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

External Communications (50%)

  • Maintain an agency style guide and appropriate templates to ensure high-quality and consistent communication across the organization.
  • Design and produce copy for select printed materials distributed by NMIC (e.g., annual reports, brochures, promotional items, newsletters, and media releases).
  • Update and manage all agency digital content, including social media, e-blasts, blogs, and the website.
  • Draft content for NMIC's website and assist with maintenance for programmatic content in collaboration with program teams.
  • Oversee social media platforms, including tracking tools, generating reports on reach and impact, and assisting with content creation as needed.
  • Monitor communication and fundraising performance indicators and prepare regular reports.
  • Update and maintain NMIC's press lists and media tracking tools.
  • Support other communication-related activities and events as required, along with additional administrative duties.

Development (50%)

  • Assist in planning and coordinating logistics for fundraising events.
  • Manage the gift acknowledgment process, including drafting and updating thank-you letters and making donor appreciation calls as assigned.
  • Create visual materials for events, social media, and the website.
  • Provide copy editing support for NMIC communications, grants, and fundraising materials.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to draft campaigns, appeals, and other materials related to donor solicitation.
  • Support other development activities and events as needed, along with additional administrative responsibilities.
  • Additional related tasks may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficient in asset-framing centered writing with exceptional writing skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong command of English grammar, punctuation, copy editing, and proofreading.
  • Outstanding project organization skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and assess progress.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to collaborate with teams and stakeholders, treat everyone with respect, accept constructive feedback, and approach situations with a positive attitude.
  • Preferred experience with WordPress, Canva, CRMs, and other graphic design tools.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaker preferred.

SALARY RANGE: $75,000 to $80,000

BENEFITS:

Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, life, and disability insurance; paid time off consisting of 20 vacation days, 15 sick days, 5 personal days, 11 agency holidays, plus a week off from Christmas Eve through New Year's Day; a 401k with agency contribution; and additional benefits.
