Position Summary and Qualifications

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Outpatient Procedure Prep/Recovery unit, your responsibilities will include delivering nursing care and support to adult and elderly patients with diverse medical conditions. Key duties involve:

  • Conducting and documenting patient assessments upon admission.
  • Reassessing and recording any changes in patient status.
  • Administering medications and monitoring patient responses.
  • Overseeing patients' conditions before, during, and after procedures.
  • Communicating any changes in patient conditions to the physician.
  • Managing patients experiencing critical dysrhythmias or hemodynamic changes as per physician orders.
  • Explaining procedures to patients and ensuring their understanding.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact RN license (Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
