Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Medical Surgical Float Pool Registered Nurse, your responsibilities will include conducting patient assessments, developing care plans, and implementing and evaluating patient care.

As part of the interdisciplinary care team, you will collaborate with other members to ensure the safe and effective delivery of care.

  • Formulate and adjust care plans based on patient responses to treatment, regularly evaluating their effectiveness.
  • Consult and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop, assess, and modify care plans to meet patient needs and objectives.
  • Administer medications and complete treatments in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to non-licensed staff following established standards of practice.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care to patients.
  • Distribute educational materials to patients and families regarding care and treatments.
  • Facilitate discharge planning in collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Education: Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Licensure: Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License (Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
  • NIHSS certification required as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
