Overview of the Vice President of Technology Role

The Vice President of Technology is a pivotal strategic position at Cognite AS. In this role, you will be entrusted with the responsibility to ensure that our technological framework provides a competitive edge. This position is not merely a part of the leadership team within the Product division; it serves as a guiding light for strategic technology initiatives and decisions. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, you will have the authority to influence our technological landscape. The dynamic environment of Austin, a center for technological advancement, positions you near major tech entities and strategic partners, enhancing your leadership experience.

About the Product Division at Cognite

The Product division is dedicated to the development of Cognite Data Fusion (CDF), a powerful and scalable platform designed to address industrial data challenges. At the core of our mission is the transformation of asset-intensive industries to enhance safety, sustainability, and profitability. Cognite Data Fusion enables operational data to be accessible at scale, adding significant value through advanced data processing capabilities, which empower industries to make informed, data-driven decisions.

Your Responsibilities

  • Ensure that Cognite's technological framework delivers a competitive advantage.
  • Collaborate with the Product division leadership to execute Cognite's strategic vision.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders, clients, and partners to shape Cognite's technology strategy.
  • Lead the team of architects within the Office of the CTO.
  • Define and oversee the technological standards and architectural principles at Cognite.
  • Represent Cognite's technology to clients, partners, analysts, and the broader market.
  • Manage technology debt effectively, ensuring continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Hands-on development experience early in your career.
  • Over 5 years in an architectural or senior technical role.
  • In-depth knowledge of distributed systems, cloud technologies, AI/ML, algorithms, and data structures.
  • A collaborative team player who takes ownership and provides clear direction.
  • A commitment to making a positive impact for clients, the organization, and colleagues.
  • A relentless pursuit of excellence in building innovative solutions.
  • A passion for technology and a willingness to share knowledge through various platforms.
  • Experience in developing data or AI-centric products is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with SaaS, B2B, and industrial environments is a plus.
  • Experience in edge computing or operational technology is beneficial.
  • Experience in creating platforms for external developers is a bonus.
