Job Summary

Morton Salt is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to join our team at the Weeks Island Facility. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for providing hands-on support in procurement, inventory management, contract reviews, and project planning.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with procurement and inventory management to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and goods.
  • Establish and maintain rapport with suppliers, employees, and management to ensure smooth communication and collaboration.
  • Become familiar with the materials, equipment, and services procured for the operations of the facility.
  • Play a hands-on role in the purchasing of indirect goods and services, including preparing and analyzing bid packages, request for qualifications, and quotations.
  • Develop an understanding of company terms of stock and non-stock material inventories, including material control, warehousing, and logistics.
  • Assist with inventory consolidation and reduction projects, and provide project and turnaround support in staging and tracking inventory.
Requirements:
  • Must be enrolled in an accounting, economics, finance, management, and/or engineering program.
  • SAP experience is desired, but not required.
  • Ability to work in an underground environment as necessary.
Work Environment:

Field work will include underground and surface industrial environment where potential dust, high temperatures, and other industrial and mine-related hazards may be encountered.
