Overview:
As a Senior Applications Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of various administrative, financial, and clinical applications. You will lead the requirements gathering process, document workflows, conduct product testing, troubleshoot issues, manage upgrades, and develop reports. Additionally, you will provide guidance to clients and internal management regarding application usage and direction while assisting in vendor relationship management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the achievement of departmental goals and adhere to established policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Engage in onboarding new team members and serve as a mentor during project activities.
  • Monitor application performance and ensure continuity of service for assigned applications.
  • Conduct performance testing and monitor application usage to recommend operational enhancements.
  • Coordinate testing of software updates and validate system functionality through comprehensive testing processes.
  • Manage vendor resources during the implementation of new software and application enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain user documentation to optimize application usage and ensure consistency with departmental processes.
  • Facilitate effective communication through tailored presentations and actively participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Create standard and ad hoc reports to meet user requirements and provide training on report development.
  • Document existing business processes and develop new processes that leverage technology for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay informed about current technology trends in the healthcare sector to provide valuable insights to the Information Services department.
  • Implement application improvements and manage project tasks, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee application databases, ensuring data integrity and quality maintenance.
  • Utilize advanced project management techniques to manage application-related projects and special initiatives.
  • Analyze application-related issues and coordinate with stakeholders to resolve problems effectively.
  • Plan and execute training programs for users on core system functionalities.
  • Provide ongoing support to users and ensure successful resolution of application-related issues.
  • Facilitate the integration of applications within the organizational environment and train staff on support processes.
  • Represent the department in community outreach and participate in multi-disciplinary quality improvement teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-7 years of relevant technical experience, preferably in a healthcare or business setting.
  • Proficiency in systems analysis, customer service, vendor management, and project management.
  • Familiarity with networking and hardware is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills to address complex technical challenges.
  • Competence in desktop applications, project management tools, and communication software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients and colleagues.
  • Understanding of information systems and their implications for users.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $250,000
