Job OverviewPosition Title: Senior Electrical Engineering Specialist

Location: Remote

Position Summary:

The selected candidate will collaborate within a dynamic team setting, engaging with various departments to design and validate embedded FPGA firmware tailored for software-defined radio technologies.

Responsibilities include analyzing project requirements, drafting FPGA specifications, developing firmware in VHDL, creating test benches in System Verilog, and ensuring that designs align with established criteria.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement complex modem and/or DSP circuits utilizing FPGA technology, with relevant experience in ASIC design also considered.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of embedded system design and communication solutions.
  • Architect, implement, and validate intricate algorithms within FPGAs and software.
  • Conduct thorough analyses encompassing requirements assessment, use case scenarios, conceptual design, trade studies, testing, operation, and maintenance of radio communication products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and refine design specifications.
  • Develop self-checking test benches for FPGA design verification and validation using SystemVerilog.
  • Assist in crafting high-level and detailed verification test plans aligned with system requirements.
  • Prepare and present design and implementation reviews, including technical briefings to stakeholders.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in developing and validating FPGA/ASIC-based embedded system solutions is required. Alternatively, a Graduate Degree with at least 4 years of related experience or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is acceptable.


Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with testing and debugging MODEM RF designs.
  • Experience with MatLab, Simulink, or similar DSP modeling tools.
  • Knowledge of Universal Verification Methodology (UVM).
  • Experience with vendor-specific FPGA verification tools (e.g., Mentor Questa, Visualizer).
  • Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot FPGA firmware and associated hardware challenges.
  • Proficient in FPGA/ASIC development using VHDL or Verilog.
  • Experience in FPGA/ASIC verification utilizing SystemVerilog.
  • Understanding of communication system signal processing principles and waveform design.
  • Ability to work effectively with remote teams and colleagues.
  • Strong technical writing skills and the capability to convey technical concepts clearly.
  • Proficiency in TCL and Python scripting languages.
  • Experience in a Linux-based development environment.
