About the Role

Stanford Health Care is seeking a skilled Patient Care Assistant II to join our team. As a key member of our patient care team, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Observe, record, and report patient information accurately and efficiently.
  • Adhere to nursing care standards and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Assess and document vital signs for stable patients, as defined by hospital guidelines.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, as assigned.
  • Carry out responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner, following safety guidelines.
  • Complete orientation program and participate in learning activities to maintain and improve knowledge and skills.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and members of the community from diverse backgrounds.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment and support the unit, department, and hospital goals.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, especially in stressful situations.
  • Ensure patient identification and allergy bands are in place at all times.
  • Follow unit and departmental guidelines for staffing and scheduling.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment.
  • Order and maintain equipment and supplies for the desk area and unit.
  • Provide break relief or assistance to the unit clerk, as needed.
  • Transport patients as needed for admission, discharge, procedures, etc.
Requirements
  • Ability to accurately, completely, and independently perform reading, writing, and arithmetic required by the job.
  • Ability to be patient and courteous, using active listening skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, and families, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to demonstrate customer service skills in interactions with all patients, families, and staff.
  • Ability to learn standard nursing procedures used in patient care.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to provide appropriate care based on the needs of the specific individuals, including age.
  • Ability to solve problems effectively using appropriate resources.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively at a level appropriate for the job.
  • Ability to take and record patients' vital signs.
  • Knowledge of basic principles, methods, medical terminology, and procedures of nursing aide work as applied to patient care.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in the functional area.
  • Knowledge of standard asepsis, hygiene, and infection control procedures.
  • Knowledge of standard charting procedures.
  • Knowledge of standard instruments and equipment used in routine patient examinations and treatment.

No education or experience qualifications are required for this role.
