A Brief Overview
The Physical Therapist III is a senior therapist who is fully competent with PT I and II job duties and has extensive expertise and experience in developing, reviewing and providing evaluation and treatment plans for high complexity patient populations and for a wide variety of ages and diagnoses, utilizing and applying innovative and advanced skills and techniques to solve patient care needs in an accurate and efficient manner. The Physical Therapist III functions independently and serves as a clinical resource in all units/service lines. The Physical Therapist III takes a leadership role in multi-disciplinary care team discussions, representing and recommending the most appropriate treatment plan for the needs of the patient. The Physical Therapist III serves as a clinical mentor/preceptor to less experienced Therapists by reviewing treatment plans and collaborating to develop and implement complex Physical Therapy care plans. Supervises patient care responsibilities, clinical development and skill assessment of Physical Therapy interns, Assistants, New Graduates, Residents and duties of Rehabilitation Aide. Functions as an instructor for the Residency Program. Leads cross-functional program development and performance improvement initiatives and leads the Rehab Department in clinical process changes/redesign. Acts as a liaison to ancillary and other department initiatives. Develops and revises departmental policies and procedures, and other specialized programs. Develops and presents classes and in-service programs that support work as Physical Therapists, as needed.

What you will do
  • Must meet and be proficient in performing all of the essential functions of Physical Therapist I and II with a more diverse and highly complex patient population as well as the following:
  • Demonstrated proficiency providing care on all AAU units (inpatient staff)
  • Leads patient care conferences, communicating with and teaching other care providers.
  • Leads Team or Discipline meetings
  • Develops/presents at least 2 professional development activities from the following choices: CEU-eligible Inservice, course, state or national poster or presentation, and/or lectured at university level program
  • Assists in re-evaluating care delivery/programs and completes assignments in the departmental plan to improve services.
  • Lead in research or new program development of departmental policies and procedures and makes recommendations, for example by developing treatment protocols for new patient populations.
  • Is aligned with and fully supports departmental and organizational principles, goals and objectives
  • Functions as CI for PT students at least bi-annually
  • Regular participation as Faculty/Mentor/Preceptor in any Advanced Training Programs
  • Serves as a primary orientation resource as needed
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (required)
  • Graduation from an approved Physical Therapy curriculum (required)
  • Masters' or Doctorate degree Required
Experience Qualifications
  • Four (5) years clinical practice as a Physical Therapist AND a Minimum of one (1) approved advanced certification. Plus one (1) of the following:
  • Demonstrated experience leading department or interdisciplinary program/initiative or process improvement project OR
  • Completion of 15 approved contact hours above the minimum state/national licensure requirement. (continuing education units)
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge and adherence to Code of Ethics and performance standards specific to the clinician's professional organization
  • Knowledge of available equipment and vendors used in assigned area
  • Knowledge of basic business aspects of position, such as utilization management, charging practices and regulatory practice compliance;
  • Knowledge of evaluation and treatment methodologies as applied to routine patient care
  • Knowledge of legal issues affecting the clinical practice
  • Knowledge of pathologies and injuries which result in physical impairments
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, equipment and theory of the practice of clinical specialty
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely and effectively with patients, families, co-workers, visitors, supervisors and other
    health professionals
  • Ability to develop and document clearly and accurately treatment goals that are realistic, measurable, appropriate, functionally based and that include patient/family input
  • Ability to develop, implement and adapt treatment programs
  • Ability to evaluate patients and interpret clinical data and make clinical judgments in clinically complex situations
  • Ability to develop, implement and adapt treatment programs to changing clinical status
  • Ability to provide appropriate care and progress treatment based on professional standards of practice, and on the needs of the specific individual, including age and developmental considerations, cultural and psychosocial issues, precautions and medical condition
  • Ability to utilize sound clinical reasoning to determine appropriate patient interventions; demonstrates good safety awareness, judgment and problem analysis and resolution
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others
  • Ability to clinically supervise, train and evaluate students/interns/residents/fellows
  • Ability to apply advanced clinical skills in treating difficult and complex cases
Licenses and Certifications
  • BLS - Basic Life Support
  • PT - CA Physical Therapist

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $ $71.77 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
