Job Overview

As a Lead Automation Engineer at WESCO International, you will take charge of designing and developing automation solutions that enhance operational efficiency across our network. You will spearhead the integration and deployment of state-of-the-art fulfillment systems that work in tandem with automation technologies to optimize material handling and movement within our operations. Your role will also involve contributing to the formulation and dissemination of the Global Automation Roadmap.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with IT and Operations teams to establish, implement, and develop guidelines for automation that improve warehouse operational processes.
  • Analyze and interpret project specifications while managing the budget, timeline, and scope of design. Engage in simulation and emulation activities.
  • Partner with the Finance department to assess automation systems through cost analysis and capital expenditure requests to validate automation initiatives.
  • Provide education and training for technology deployment teams and warehouse operations personnel on the architecture, usability, and functionality of automation systems.
  • Oversee the execution of automation projects from design through to production, ensuring they are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Develop comprehensive hardware and software solutions to address complex challenges with evolving requirements.
  • Promote continuous improvement and operational efficiency through innovative automation solutions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Preferred certifications: Certified Automation Professional (CAP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Strong background in Robotics or Mechatronic Systems.
  • Experience with CAD and a solid understanding of industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in eCAD tools.
  • Hands-on experience in developing proof-of-concept models and prototypes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with teams.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate concepts and produce technical documentation.
  • Experience in evaluating designs, performance, and logistical trade-offs for hardware systems.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
