Job Overview

As a Lead Automation Engineer, you will take charge of designing and developing automation frameworks within the operational network of WESCO. Your role will involve spearheading the integration and implementation of commercially available fulfillment technologies aimed at optimizing material handling and movement across our operations. You will also play a crucial role in shaping and communicating the Global Automation Strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with IT and Operations teams to establish, execute, and develop standards for automation that improve warehouse operational workflows.
  • Analyze and interpret project requirements. Oversee budget, timeline, and design scope. Engage in simulation and emulation processes.
  • Collaborate with the Finance department to assess automation systems through cost evaluations and capital expenditure proposals to substantiate automation initiatives.
  • Provide education and training for technology deployment teams and warehouse personnel on the architecture, usability, and functionality of automation systems.
  • Manage automation projects from initial design through to production, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Develop comprehensive hardware and software solutions to address complex challenges with evolving requirements.
  • Promote continuous improvement and operational efficiency through automation innovations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Preferred certifications: Certified Automation Professional (CAP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Solid foundation in Robotics or Mechatronic Systems.
  • Experience with CAD and an understanding of industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in eCAD tools.
  • Hands-on experience in developing proof-of-concept models and prototypes.
  • Strong organizational abilities and effective teamwork skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying concepts and drafting technical documentation.
  • Experience in evaluating designs, performance metrics, and logistical trade-offs for hardware systems.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
