Compensation: Salary Commensurate with Experience $ per hr
SUMMARY
The Program Development Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the existing frameworks for planning, executing, budgeting, and assessing the educational initiatives and outreach efforts of the Epilepsy Support Network of Orange County (ESNOC). The programs encompass various activities such as educational nights, expert series, family network management, support group facilitation, and advocacy efforts.
The ideal candidate for this full-time role is a personable, enthusiastic, and driven individual who is dedicated to advancing the mission of the Epilepsy Support Network of Orange County, which includes:
· Offering support and educational resources for individuals impacted by epilepsy and their families.
· Facilitating intake and referrals for members to epilepsy specialists to ensure optimal care and enhance the quality of life for those affected.
· Promoting outreach and awareness initiatives to combat stigma and discrimination, enabling individuals with epilepsy to engage fully in their communities with support and understanding.
Programs will be specifically designed to:
• Enhance public and individual comprehension of the needs of those living with epilepsy and their families.
• Encourage early detection, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of epilepsy.
• Foster equity and inclusion for individuals with epilepsy.
• Raise awareness regarding the legal rights of individuals with epilepsy.
• Boost self-esteem and social skills among children, adolescents, and young adults living with epilepsy.
RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
(5)60% Sustain and enhance epilepsy education and support initiatives in Orange County
- Program Night and Epilepsy Expert Series (Second Friday evening of each month)
- Epilepsy 101
- Seizure Recognition and First Aid for public and private establishments
- Awareness-building presentations to reshape perceptions of epilepsy
Coordination of support services for families affected by epilepsy, including the establishment and maintenance of a robust parent/family network and facilitation of educational and emotional support.
30% Identification, development, and delivery of public outreach opportunities and programs to bolster support and interest in ESNOC's mission, goals, and initiatives;
- Health/Resource Fairs and Community Events
- Media Engagement
- Collaborating with other organizations and corporations
10% Budget formulation for programs and services;
· Program evaluation; compiling reports, statistics, and strategies for program enhancement.
· Volunteer coordination and nurturing relationships with volunteers;
· Providing referrals, resources, and advocacy services for individuals affected by epilepsy and their families;
- Access to Medical Specialists and developmental specialists
- Educational Support: IEP Advocacy
- Employee/Employer vocational support
- Distribution of ESNOC program information to epilepsy centers, neurologists, service providers, school nurses, and other non-profit organizations
- Offering one-on-one information and support at ESNOC programs, educational events, conferences, social events, etc...
(Seasonally 50%) Assist in coordinating the Epilepsy Walk Fundraising Event and participate in required committee meetings.
12. Develop, maintain, and expand service measures and outcome expectations.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A successful Program Development Coordinator will be a highly motivated self-starter and quick learner who can effectively listen to the needs of members with epilepsy to provide consumer-driven programs. Most importantly, a successful coordinator will possess a genuine passion for assisting those affected by epilepsy.
· Experience in educational programming, presentations, and community outreach.
· Exceptional public speaking skills with the ability to represent ESNOC in a professional and ethical manner.
· Knowledge of and ability to passionately communicate ESNOC's purpose and mission.
· Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Proven ability in project planning, management, and relationship building.
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects on various timelines.
· Ability to effectively coordinate and oversee a variety of ESNOC programs involving diverse populations, including individuals with special needs, developmental/intellectual delays, and differently-abled individuals.
· Maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with staff members, medical professionals, non-profit staff, volunteers, donors, community members, and community-based organizations and partners.
· Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite, experience with databases, graphics, and social media.
· Demonstrated willingness to work in varying conditions that may include infrequent weekends/evening events.
· Ability to maintain and organize information, documents, and contact information using databases.
· Maintain professional behavior, dress, and appearance at all times.
· Driver's license, insurance, and vehicle required.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor's Degree with coursework in public health, administration, or education.
· Experience working with the public, including public speaking.
· Experience with program development and evaluation.
· Supervisory experience required.
Other Duties:
Special Events, Fundraising/Grant Committee - Identify grant opportunities, grant support, and identify third-party fundraising opportunities.
Expected Hours:
This position is full-time with usual office hours of 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with some evening and weekend commitments.
The Second Friday evening of each month requires hours from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM for program night.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit, stand, lift, and/or move heavy objects.
