Overview:
Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Assistant carries out various responsibilities in the care and treatment of patients, adhering to established methods and protocols of the Medical Center.
Responsibilities:
Provides direct support to patients in line with their personalized care plans
Assists patients with daily living activities, including bathing, oral hygiene, dressing, grooming, and toileting
Facilitates the transportation and transfer of patients, ensuring comfort and safety during movement
Monitors and records vital signs, intake and output, and other patient data, promptly reporting any abnormalities or concerns to the nursing team
Completes blood glucose checks as directed
Ensures accurate and timely documentation
Assists with patient hygiene and comfort measures, including repositioning patients to prevent pressure ulcers
Supports patients with feeding and hydration needs, adhering to dietary restrictions and assisting with mealtime activities, ensuring timely removal of trays.
Collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and promote positive patient outcomes
Conducts hourly rounds to assigned patients, anticipating their needs and responding promptly to call lights and requests
Provides emotional support and companionship to patients and their families, demonstrating empathy and compassion in all interactions
Maintains a clean and organized patient environment, including changing bed linens, stocking supplies, and ensuring cleanliness of patient rooms, and preparing rooms for admissions and transfers.
Engages in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge in patient care and hospital procedures
Qualifications:
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Able to Withstand Crisis Situations
Possesses Skills to Provide Customer Service to Patients, Team Members, and Visitors
Knowledge and Experience with Electronic Health Records
Credentials:
Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in DE
BLS – Basic Life Saving Certification
Education:
High school diploma preferred OR current high school student with CNA license (work schedule in compliance with the State of Delaware Department of Labor Regulations)
Starting at:
USD $18.25/Hr.
