Key Responsibilities:
Conduct routine inspections, upkeep, and minor repairs on transit vehicles.

Manage the repair, replacement, and maintenance of tires and batteries. Evaluate vehicles for any damages, loose components, and fluid leaks.

Perform daily washing and refueling of vehicles, ensuring oil and other fluids are replenished as necessary.

Oversee the draining of air tanks and the installation and removal of small electrical parts on vehicles.

Respond to emergency road calls as required, complete work orders, and procure necessary parts.

Examine safety equipment, handle farebox removal and vaulting, and generate nighttime reports.

May oversee and assist community service workers in their tasks.

Collect revenue from fareboxes and secure it in the vault.

Keep supervisors informed of all job-related matters.

Provide transportation support to emergency services when required (for both small and large vehicles).

Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Familiarity with fleet maintenance practices.

Understanding of safety protocols.

Proficiency in cleaning and inspecting vehicles and equipment.

Expertise in the repair or replacement of tires and batteries.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.


Knowledge and competency typically associated with specialized training in the field, alongside basic skills generally linked to a high school education.

Relevant experience that provides an understanding of the fundamental principles related to the primary responsibilities of the role, usually gained through an apprenticeship or similar position over one to two years.

Possession of or ability to quickly obtain a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle operated.


Physical Requirements:
The role involves intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching.

The employee frequently lifts both light and heavy items, climbs ladders, utilizes tools or equipment requiring dexterity, and distinguishes between various colors.

Manual Dexterity – performing tasks with fingers rather than the whole hand.

Mental Acuity – making rational decisions through sound logic and reasoning.

Pulling – using upper extremities to exert force or haul.

Pushing – using upper extremities to press against objects with force.

Reaching – extending hands or arms in any direction.

Repetitive Motion – substantial movements of wrists, hands, and fingers.

Speaking – conveying ideas verbally and providing detailed instructions accurately.

Standing – for extended periods.

Stooping – bending downward at the waist with full motion of lower extremities and back.

Visual Acuity – preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, extensive reading.

Walking - on foot to accomplish tasks, covering long distances.


The work environment may include exposure to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, and varying weather conditions.

The role requires the use of protective equipment such as masks, goggles, or gloves.
