Role Summary:

The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing bus maintenance operations, ensuring that vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready for service. This position is essential for maintaining a clean and efficient fleet, controlling operational costs, and collaborating with internal stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and evaluate Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMI), oversee repairs, and conduct vehicle audits to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Communicate equipment failure trends and improvement suggestions to the Vehicle Maintenance Manager.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are accurately documented in the Maintenance Management System (MMS) and manage warranty paperwork efficiently.
  • Coordinate repairs with other maintenance facilities and establish work schedules to optimize workflow and resource allocation.
  • Maintain thorough records related to employee schedules, time cards, and personnel documentation, ensuring accuracy in payroll processes.
  • Provide necessary tools and equipment for maintenance tasks and lead communication meetings to share important updates.
  • Foster positive labor relations by applying union contract principles fairly and effectively, addressing employee concerns proactively.
  • Enhance productivity and morale through effective training, clear communication, and accountability in performance management.
  • Propose improvements to maintenance procedures and resource management to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Respond to road service calls promptly, coordinating assistance as needed.
  • Ensure timely and thorough completion of preventive maintenance inspections and minor repairs, prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Supervise and mentor maintenance staff, ensuring compliance with EEO responsibilities and supporting career development initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with four (4) years of supervisory experience in vehicle maintenance.
  • ASE certification is preferred.
