Role Summary:

The Fleet Operations Manager at LT Corporation, Inc. is tasked with ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of the transportation fleet. This role serves as the authority on DOT compliance, providing essential guidance to the team on regulatory matters, overseeing internal audits, and ensuring adherence to DOT standards. The Manager will implement and oversee a safety program that promotes a robust safety culture within the organization. This position is vital to the leadership team at LT Corporation, Inc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee compliance and driver safety across all operational areas, including vehicle inspections, medical certifications, licensing, driver log management, and substance testing.
  • Monitor adherence to Hours-of-Service regulations, ELD usage, and conduct audits of driver logs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and manage DOT-related complaints.
  • Develop and manage the company’s driver safety initiatives, conducting safety audits on vehicles and collaborating with the safety manager as necessary.
  • Supervise the fleet of transportation equipment, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding weight limits, permits, hazardous materials, and service hours.
  • Guide the Fleet Specialist in assessing repair needs and authorizing necessary maintenance to maintain DOT compliance.
  • Participate in driver orientation and onboarding, communicating essential safety principles and accident prevention strategies.
  • Conduct evaluations of the fleet to ensure maintenance standards meet DOT requirements. Maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
  • Manage accident and insurance claims, conducting thorough investigations and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Review financial expenditures, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and contractual obligations.
  • Collaborate with the logistics team and operating companies to foster a cooperative environment that enhances operational efficiency.
  • Exemplify LT Corporation's leadership principles, reinforcing our core beliefs and values among team members.
  • Lead and mentor the Fleet Specialist, promoting positive employee relations and accountability.
  • Manage the budget and analyze financial reports to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Stay informed on current and upcoming regulatory compliance requirements for logistics operations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation management with a focus on DOT regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Hazardous Materials Regulations, and Drug & Alcohol Regulations.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Logging Device (ELD) regulations.
  • Experience in the transportation of hazardous materials is preferred.
  • Experience managing relationships with third-party logistics providers is advantageous.

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional travel to company or vendor locations may be required, approximately 30%.
