Role Summary:

The Fleet Operations Manager at LT Corporation, Inc. is tasked with ensuring the safe and efficient management of the transportation fleet. This role serves as the subject matter expert on DOT compliance, providing essential guidance and support to the team regarding compliance issues, overseeing internal audits, and ensuring adherence to DOT regulations. The Manager will also implement and manage a robust safety program that fosters a strong safety culture within the organization. This position is integral to the leadership team at LT Corporation, Inc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee compliance and driver safety across all operational aspects, including vehicle inspections, medical certifications, licensing, driver log management, and drug and alcohol testing.
  • Monitor adherence to Hours-of-Service regulations, ELD usage, and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) standards, while managing the auditing of driver logs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and address DOT complaints under the FMSCR.
  • Develop and manage the company's driver safety program, promoting safe work practices through regular safety audits and collaboration with the safety manager.
  • Manage the fleet of transportation equipment, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including weight restrictions and hazardous materials handling.
  • Guide the Fleet Specialist in assessing the need for repairs and authorizing necessary actions to maintain DOT compliance.
  • Participate in driver orientation and onboarding, emphasizing core safety principles and accident prevention.
  • Conduct fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards meet DOT requirements and maintain accurate safety records.
  • Manage accident and insurance claims, conducting thorough investigations and ensuring proper documentation and reporting.
  • Review financial expenditures, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and contracts.
  • Foster collaboration across the logistics team and operating companies to achieve efficient results and maintain positive relationships with service providers.
  • Exemplify LT Corporation's leadership traits, reinforcing the company's purpose, core beliefs, and values to all team members.
  • Lead and mentor the Fleet Specialist, promoting positive employee relations and best practices.
  • Analyze budgetary performance and review monthly financial reports to ensure financial goals are met.
  • Stay informed about current and upcoming regulatory compliance requirements in logistics.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation, with a focus on Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Hazardous Materials Regulations, and Drug & Alcohol Regulations.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Logging Device (ELD) rules and regulations.
  • Experience in transporting hazardous materials is preferred.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships with 3PL delivery providers is advantageous.

Education and Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.

Travel Requirements:

  • Periodic travel to company or vendor sites, approximately 30%.
