Social Services Operations Supervisor

The role of the Social Services Operations Supervisor is pivotal in supporting the leadership of the Social Services department. This position may encompass two primary functions: (1) overseeing the comprehensive operations of the Social Services department or (2) directing the daily activities of specific services or programs. In settings such as Home Health or hospice care, the Supervisor will assist in managing the operational aspects of Social Service initiatives, providing both clinical and administrative guidance to licensed social workers. Responsibilities include the formulation of social services budgets, business strategies, and service plans, alongside the implementation of quality management and improvement initiatives for social services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Department Director or Manager in planning, developing, implementing, and enhancing social services policies and procedures.
- Oversee the delivery of social work programs and services.
- Ensure quality management across all service offerings.
- Manage fiscal responsibilities and patient/community planning services.
- Supervise staff, including those assigned to various departments and locations.
- Ensure staff competencies and provide clinical leadership and consultation.
- Develop and monitor quality management programs for social services.
- Assess staff development needs and provide educational opportunities to enhance service delivery.
- Oversee departmental budgeting and identify opportunities for service improvement and cost management.
- Collaborate with human resources to address employee performance and labor relations issues.
- Manage safety and risk issues at a foundational level.
- Analyze staffing levels and skill-mix to ensure effective service delivery.
- Recommend and implement new programs to enhance care quality for specialized patient populations.
- Participate in the development of grant proposals.
- Identify and collaborate with community resources to enhance service offerings.
- Work closely with medical center leadership and departmental managers to address psycho-social needs and ensure integrated service delivery.
- Identify and resolve issues impacting service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards.
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years in clinical social work.
- At least two (2) years in a management role.
- Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California) required upon hire.
- National Provider Identifier required upon hire.
- Proven ability to apply fiscal and program management principles.
- In-depth knowledge of social services delivery and human development theories.
- Ability to thrive in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- One (1) year of supervisory experience in an acute hospital setting.
