Job Summary

The Associate Director will play a pivotal role within the dynamic and collaborative Employer Relations team, focusing on enhancing the Chicago Booth brand among employers. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of the diverse Booth student groups and alumni networks. The individual will initially concentrate on sectors such as startups and venture capital, aiming to forge and nurture relationships with organizations that currently lack recruiting ties to Chicago Booth.

Collaboration with various stakeholders, including industry career coaches and faculty, is essential to expand existing employer connections across different functions and regions. Outreach efforts will primarily involve direct engagement, supplemented by the organization of employer-focused events such as networking sessions, conferences, and panel discussions.

Responsibilities

Actively contribute to the Employer Relations team by devising and executing a comprehensive marketing strategy aimed at sourcing employment opportunities for a wide array of Chicago Booth constituencies, including Specialty Masters, Full-Time MBA, Evening/Weekend MBA, and Executive MBA students, as well as alumni worldwide. This will involve analyzing employment trends and engaging with student and alumni groups. Collaborate with industry-specific and regional student and alumni organizations to support employer outreach initiatives. Utilize innovative methods to identify leads through social media, alumni networks, and student referrals. Proactively reach out to corporate representatives to establish connections on behalf of Chicago Booth. Travel domestically (approximately 10-15%) to engage with corporate partners. Foster and maintain positive relationships with internal departments and corporate contacts, promoting employer development initiatives. Effectively market resulting employment opportunities to the relevant Booth constituencies. Conceptualize, plan, and execute events that enhance the Chicago Booth brand within targeted industries and regions. Create communication materials, including social media content, blog posts, and presentations, to inform students and alumni about the relationship-building efforts undertaken on their behalf. Manage daily administrative tasks such as data entry, calendar organization, and travel arrangements. Identify and cultivate employer relationships and job opportunities within designated industry sectors, employing best practices to attract new companies to participate in recruitment activities. Establish and maintain connections with search firms, and periodically meet with new alumni and employer partners to generate leads for employer development. Perform additional related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

A college or university degree in a relevant field is required.

At least three years of experience in career services or a related business environment, such as sales or business development.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and a willingness to learn internal systems and social media platforms.

Ability to proactively reach out to contacts, including cold-calling company representatives to establish relationships on behalf of Chicago Booth. Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, creative problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. Professional demeanor with a proven track record of building positive client relationships. Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to make informed decisions in uncertain situations. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Working Conditions

This position is expected to require in-office work for a minimum of three days per week. Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends during peak periods.
