Position Summary
The Utilities Foreman, in collaboration with the Superintendents, oversees the daily operations of wet utilities on the construction site. This role involves supervising on-site personnel, coordinating with inspectors, managing schedules, and ensuring effective communication with subcontractors while maintaining a well-organized and safety-focused work environment.

Total Compensation
$82,300 to $139,000 per year

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of project specifications and scope to ensure compliance with design, quality, and safety standards while adhering to budget and timelines.
  • Apply project contract documents, plans, specifications, and RFIs effectively.
  • Implement OSHA and project safety requirements, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure all team members practice safety protocols and utilize appropriate PPE.
  • Maintain accurate daily and weekly project activity reports, including as-built and underground utility sketches.
  • Propose adjustments to project schedules to enhance crew efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure subcontractors meet all project specifications and requirements.
  • Conduct construction activities, including site preparation, operation, and job site closure, along with proper testing of completed work.
  • Operate various vehicles and equipment as needed.
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills, assisting in the training and development of team members.
  • Verify crew payroll accuracy and ensure daily and weekly cleanup by crew and subcontractors.
  • Regularly check primary email for company communications.

Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Solid understanding of heavy construction, including experience with various heavy equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Familiarity with OSHA utility trenching safety standards.
  • Practical knowledge of relevant installation codes for wet utilities.

Management Skills:
  • Strong supervisory abilities with a focus on team engagement.
  • Patience and insight to manage diverse personalities.
  • Excellent conflict resolution and training skills.
  • Effective communication with team members, contractors, and inspectors.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.

Project Management Skills:
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction project dynamics, including budgets and timelines.
  • Ability to multitask and coordinate project activities.
  • Proficient in computer skills for reporting and organization.
  • Commitment to safety practices in wet utilities construction.

Work Ethic:
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Ability to lead by example and support team members in various roles.
  • Consistent access to a reliable personal email account.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required; willingness to learn and be trained.
  • 10-hour OSHA Safety class within 30 days of assignment.
  • Preferred: Construction degree and supervisory experience in wet utilities.

Language and Math Skills:
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic math skills required for the role.

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to navigate undeveloped project grounds and operate vehicles for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds intermittently.

Work Environment:
Outdoor work subject to varying weather conditions and potential equipment vibrations.
