Role Summary

The Culinary Service Associate plays a vital role in executing various food service tasks, which include delivering outstanding customer service, managing kitchen operations, assembling patient meals, preparing menu items, and serving meals. This position requires a service-oriented mindset, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound decision-making abilities. The role primarily involves collaboration with team members within the department and management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safety protocols when handling hot food items.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the department in compliance with state regulations and organizational policies.
  • Document equipment and food temperatures as mandated by state guidelines.
  • Assist in the preparation and packaging of breakfast and snack items in collaboration with procurement.
  • Oversee proper storage and labeling of food items, including meals designated for patients.
  • Retrieve food deliveries from vendors as notified.
  • Prepare for lunch and dinner service by organizing meal items, checking temperatures, and using appropriate serving utensils.
  • Verify delivered meal items against the menu and report any discrepancies.
  • Serve meals to patients, accommodating special dietary needs and portion control.
  • Conduct basic cleanup post-meal service, including washing dishes and maintaining cleanliness in food preparation areas.
  • Provide patients with beverages and snacks as requested, adhering to dietary restrictions.
  • Assist staff in preparing water pitchers for patient use.
  • Support dietary specialists in completing food service documentation.
  • Maintain food safety and hygiene standards as required by state law and organizational policies.
  • Follow attendance and punctuality standards, ensuring reliable presence at work.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. A valid food handler's card for the state of Washington is required. Previous experience in institutional or restaurant food service is advantageous.

Additional Information

Computer Skills: Proficiency in computer applications, including Outlook and Word, along with the ability to manage online scheduling.

Physical Demands: The role may require lifting up to 15 lbs and sitting for extended periods. Sufficient manual dexterity for typing and general computer use is necessary.

Work Environment: Employees may encounter exposure to bloodborne pathogens and must adhere to infection control policies.
