Position Responsibilities
The Culinary Service Associate plays a vital role in executing various food service tasks, which include:
- Delivering outstanding customer service.
- Performing kitchen operations, including meal assembly and preparation of menu items.
- Serving meals to patients with attention to dietary requirements.
Work situations are typically routine, necessitating a service-oriented mindset, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound decision-making abilities. Internal interactions primarily occur within departmental teams and management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Adhering to safety protocols when handling hot food items.
- Ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen in compliance with state regulations and organizational policies.
- Documenting food and equipment temperatures as mandated by state laws.
- Preparing and packaging breakfast and snack items in collaboration with procurement.
- Properly storing and labeling food items and containers.
- Collecting food deliveries from vendors as needed.
- Setting up for meal service, including portioning and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
- Verifying meal items against the menu and reporting any discrepancies.
- Serving meals to patients, accommodating special dietary needs.
- Conducting post-meal clean-up, including dishwashing and sanitizing work areas.
- Providing beverages and snacks to patients as requested.
- Assisting staff in preparing water for patients.
- Supporting dietary specialists in food service documentation.
- Maintaining food safety and hygiene standards as required.
- Complying with attendance and punctuality policies.
- Contributing to the organization’s success by meeting competency expectations and core values, engaging in continuous learning, and performing additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
Preferred qualifications include:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- State of Washington food handler's card.
- Experience in institutional or restaurant food service.
Additional Information
Computer Skills: Proficiency in computer applications, including Outlook and Word, and familiarity with online scheduling.
Physical Demands: The role may require lifting up to 15 lbs and sitting for extended periods.
Work Environment: Employees may encounter exposure to health-related risks and must adhere to infection control policies.
