Position Overview
As a Senior Advisor for Power Grid Analysis and Forecasting, you will be under the guidance of the Congestion Trading Director, focusing on the development of long-term grid scenarios within the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) region. Your role will involve forecasting nodal price trajectories utilizing advanced production cost modeling tools.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute relevant scenario studies tailored to the designated study period, systematically analyzing the outcomes.
- Operate production cost models, specifically the Day-Ahead Locational Market Clearing Prices Analyzer (Dayzer), ensuring inputs are consistently updated and analyzed.
- Establish a systematic and repeatable methodology for analyzing and forming fundamental perspectives regarding macro-trends.
- Investigate and identify the drivers influencing Day Ahead and Real Time congestion market results, considering both macro-fundamentals (supply, demand, renewables) and micro-fundamentals (specific transmission and generation outages, bids, facility limits).
- Identify model deficiencies by calibrating model outputs to market results and propose suitable solutions.
- Recommend and implement process enhancements to improve fundamental trading practices.
- Engage in Independent System Operator (ISO) meetings as necessary, evaluating commercial implications.
- Collaborate with IT teams to maintain and enhance relevant analytical tools.
- Develop and sustain dispatch and flow models, effectively communicating fundamental developments and insights to stakeholders.
- Construct models to monitor market fundamentals and regularly benchmark against actual data.

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (Engineering/Business/Finance) with coursework in applicable disciplines.
- At least seven years of professional experience in the industry.
- Minimum of five years of experience in grid planning or wholesale electricity markets within ERCOT or a comparable ISO.
- In-depth understanding of power grid optimization, power flow shift factors, line-outage distribution factors, and contingency analysis.
- Strong analytical capabilities and effective communication skills.
- Openness to engage in discussions and debates with colleagues.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Structured Query Language (SQL) and Python.
- Familiarity with statistical methodologies.

Additional Information
This position supports a hybrid work model.

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $112,000 - $172,500 USD annually, reflecting the average expected pay for qualified candidates.
- Actual salary may vary based on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, and internal pay alignment.
- In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive program.
