Position Overview:

Colliers Engineering & Design is on the lookout for a skilled Project Engineer to become a vital part of our Bridge and Structures division. This role emphasizes the importance of bridges within our transportation framework, and we pride ourselves on having a team of nationally recognized design engineers with vast experience in maintenance and rehabilitation.

Our professionals are equipped with insights from the industry, having backgrounds with state Departments of Transportation, Class 1 railroads, and participation in national boards and technical committees. Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in a variety of projects, including the design and rehabilitation of highway, rail, and pedestrian bridges, as well as culverts, retaining walls, and temporary structures.
  • Lead the technical design efforts for bridge projects, crafting work plans for diverse bridge designs, coordinating with interfacing disciplines, and executing calculations, computer modeling, design reviews, cost estimates, and developing specifications and construction documents.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of internal standards and practices.
  • Conduct quality control and assurance checks on design computations, computer models, CAD drawings, reports, estimates, and specifications.
  • Serve as a liaison for clients, design professionals, and contractors.
  • Potentially act as the quality coordinator for discipline-led projects.
  • Assist in crafting technical narratives, project scopes, and fee proposals for project pursuits.
  • Participate in professional association committees to help establish policies, standards, and procedures at various levels.
  • May stamp or sign drawings or reports and/or serve as the Engineer of Record for specific projects.
  • Support the mentoring and development of junior design staff.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in bridge or structural design is preferred.
  • PE licensure or progress towards licensure is desirable.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil3D is required.
  • A strong work ethic and a commitment to continuous learning are essential.
  • Familiarity with MDOT and AASHTO design codes is required; knowledge of AREMA design codes is advantageous.
