Position Overview

The Office of Undergraduate Admission at Princeton University is seeking candidates for the role of Admissions Officer. This prestigious institution, located in central New Jersey, processes over 40,000 applications annually for its first-year class. The admissions team employs a comprehensive approach to evaluate applications, aiming to select a diverse and talented incoming class of approximately 1,425 students. The Admissions Officer plays a crucial role in communicating the mission of Princeton University and explaining its policies and procedures to various stakeholders, including applicants, parents, school counselors, alumni, and university staff.

Key Responsibilities

Travel Engagement: The Admissions Officer will be responsible for delivering presentations at high schools and college fairs, both in-person and virtually. This includes conducting information sessions on campus and coordinating travel plans to visit secondary schools and community organizations. The role also involves engaging with Princeton Alumni interviewers and making public presentations about the university's undergraduate programs, resources, and admission and financial aid policies to diverse audiences.

Application Assessment: All officers are integral to the selection process for incoming first-year and transfer students. This includes reading, evaluating, and summarizing applications for admission. Intensive evaluation work occurs during the selection period.

Additional Duties: The Admissions Officer will participate as a member of one of the office's strategic teams, which may focus on communications, diversity outreach, domestic outreach, international initiatives, or visitor management. The position requires additional time commitments, including weekends and extended hours for several months each year, particularly during application evaluations and yield events for admitted students and their families. A resume and cover letter are mandatory for application.
