Overview

The IT Resilience Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting the Associate Director for IT Resiliency, collaborating with various teams to guarantee the robustness, continuity, and recovery of IT infrastructure and services. Key responsibilities encompass IT resilience strategy formulation, testing, and validation, ensuring preparedness for IT disaster recovery, including defining recovery point and time objectives for all essential IT services. The analyst will also facilitate training and awareness initiatives regarding IT resilience methodologies.

In the event of an IT infrastructure disruption, the Analyst will coordinate response activities and provide expertise to assist colleagues in executing business continuity and disaster recovery strategies, aiming to minimize service interruptions and uphold critical IT functions. The Analyst is also involved in post-incident evaluations, both within the IT department and with campus collaborators.



Responsibilities

Engages in the design, execution, and ongoing enhancement of IT resilience strategies and processes for the institution, collaborating closely with the Information Security Office and the University Emergency Management Group. Partners with the Information Security Office, IT staff, the University Emergency Management Group, and campus stakeholders to address identified vulnerabilities in critical IT systems. Develops and conducts regular assessments and simulations to evaluate the efficacy of IT resilience, making adjustments as necessary to ensure timely service recovery. Maintains comprehensive documentation for IT resilience strategies, including recovery protocols, contact details, and system configurations. Works alongside technology vendors and service providers to ensure alignment with the institution's IT resilience goals. Verifies that IT resilience strategies meet established recovery point and recovery time objectives for services. Facilitates training and awareness sessions for IT personnel on IT resilience and business continuity practices. Ensures adherence to asset, change, incident, and problem management protocols and policies. Possesses substantial familiarity and experience with IT infrastructure services and systems, encompassing networking, virtualization, data centers, application development, databases, and cloud services. Maintains knowledge of emergency response operations and incident management frameworks, such as the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS). Provides support and expertise during IT crises. Utilizes monitoring systems and reporting tools to generate metrics on system resilience and recovery capabilities regularly.Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in enterprise IT environments, with at least 3 years focused on IT resilience, including the design and development of disaster response, recovery, and business continuity services.
  • Proven experience in evaluating and enhancing existing IT disaster plans, necessitating modifications to current processes.
  • A strong inclination for learning and sharing knowledge, coupled with a desire to collaborate with colleagues to tackle complex challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond promptly and professionally to inquiries from stakeholders.
  • A track record of success in both collaborative and independent work environments.
  • Capacity to acquire knowledge of new technologies beyond primary areas of expertise.
  • A proactive mindset in seeking information and insights from peers, supervisors, and the broader community.
  • Proficiency in developing strategies to communicate effectively with a diverse audience, accommodating varying levels of technical understanding.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with conducting risk assessments, business impact analyses, and gap analyses.
  • Understanding of IT resilience frameworks, methodologies, and industry standards (e.g., ISO 22301, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ITIL).
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP).
