The IT Resiliency Analyst is a pivotal role within the organization, reporting to the Associate Director for IT Resiliency. This position collaborates with various teams to guarantee the robustness, continuity, and recovery of IT infrastructure and services. Key responsibilities encompass resilience planning, testing, and validation to ensure preparedness for IT disasters, including defining recovery point and time objectives for essential IT services. The analyst will also lead training and awareness initiatives on IT resilience methodologies.
In the event of an IT infrastructure disruption, the Analyst will coordinate response efforts and provide expertise to assist colleagues in executing business continuity and disaster recovery strategies, aiming to minimize downtime and sustain critical IT services. Additionally, the Analyst engages in post-incident evaluations both within the organization and with external partners.
Responsibilities
Engage in the design, execution, and ongoing enhancement of IT resilience strategies and processes, collaborating closely with the Information Security Office and University Emergency Management Group. Partner with the Information Security Office, OIT staff, University Emergency Management Group, and campus collaborators to address identified risks in critical IT systems. Develop and conduct regular assessments and drills to evaluate the effectiveness of IT resilience, making adjustments as necessary to ensure timely service recovery. Maintain comprehensive documentation for IT resilience strategies, including recovery protocols, contact details, and system configurations. Collaborate with technology vendors and service providers to ensure alignment with the institution's IT resilience objectives. Ensure that IT resilience strategies meet established recovery point and recovery time objectives for services. Conduct training and awareness sessions for IT personnel on resilience and business continuity practices. Ensure adherence to asset, change, incident, and problem management protocols and policies. Maintain extensive knowledge and experience with IT infrastructure services and systems, encompassing networking, virtualization, data centers, application development, databases, and cloud services. Stay informed about emergency response operations and incident management, including frameworks such as the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS). Provide support and expertise during IT crises. Utilize monitoring systems and reporting tools to generate metrics on system resilience and recovery capabilities regularly.Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in enterprise IT environments, with at least 3 years focused on IT resilience, disaster response, recovery, and business continuity services.
- Proven experience in evaluating and enhancing existing IT disaster plans that necessitate process modifications.
- A strong inclination for learning and sharing knowledge, with a collaborative approach to solving complex challenges.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to respond promptly and professionally to inquiries.
- Proven success in both collaborative and independent work environments.
- Capacity to learn new technologies beyond primary areas of expertise.
- A proactive mindset in seeking information and insights from peers, supervisors, and the broader community.
- Ability to develop effective communication strategies for a diverse audience with varying levels of technical proficiency.
- Competence in managing multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with conducting risk assessments, business impact analyses, and gap analyses.
- Understanding of IT resilience frameworks, methodologies, and industry standards (e.g., ISO 22301, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ITIL).
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP).
