Overview

The IT Resilience Analyst is responsible for collaborating with various teams to ensure the robustness, continuity, and recovery of IT infrastructure and services. This role focuses on IT resilience strategy, testing, and validation to prepare for potential IT disruptions, including establishing recovery point and time objectives for critical IT services. The analyst will also lead training and awareness initiatives regarding IT resilience methodologies.

In the event of an IT infrastructure failure, the Analyst will coordinate response efforts and provide expertise to assist colleagues in executing business continuity and disaster recovery strategies to minimize service interruptions. Additionally, the Analyst will engage in post-incident evaluations both within the IT department and with other university stakeholders.



Responsibilities

Collaborates in the design, execution, and ongoing enhancement of IT resilience strategies and processes for the institution, working closely with the Information Security Office and Emergency Management teams. Partners with the Information Security Office, IT staff, Emergency Management teams, and campus collaborators to address identified vulnerabilities in essential IT systems. Develops and conducts regular assessments and simulations to evaluate the effectiveness of IT resilience, making adjustments as necessary to ensure timely recovery of services. Maintains comprehensive documentation for IT resilience strategies, including recovery protocols, contact details, and system configurations. Works with technology vendors and service providers to ensure alignment with the university's IT resilience goals. Ensures that IT resilience strategies meet established recovery point and recovery time objectives for services. Conducts training and awareness sessions for IT personnel on resilience and business continuity practices. Ensures adherence to asset, change, incident, and problem management processes and policies. Possesses extensive knowledge and experience with IT infrastructure services and systems, including networking, virtualization, data centers, application development, databases, and cloud services. Maintains familiarity with emergency response operations and incident management frameworks, such as the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS). Provides support and expertise during IT-related crises. Utilizes monitoring systems and reporting tools to generate insights and metrics on system resilience and recovery capabilities regularly.Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise IT environments, with at least 3 years focused on IT resilience, disaster response, recovery, and business continuity services.
  • Proven experience in evaluating and enhancing existing IT disaster plans and processes.
  • Strong aptitude for learning and sharing knowledge, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond promptly and professionally to inquiries.
  • Successful track record of working both collaboratively and independently.
  • Capacity to learn new technologies beyond core areas of expertise.
  • Proactive in seeking information and ideas from colleagues and supervisors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse audience with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Competence in managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of conducting risk assessments, business impact analyses, and gap analyses.
  • Familiarity with IT resilience frameworks, methodologies, and industry standards (e.g., ISO 22301, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ITIL).
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP).
