Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) is seeking a Survey Operations Manager to oversee our Design Survey Team. This role is pivotal in assisting Kiewit's Design Build group by coordinating and managing KIE's survey vendors throughout the design phase. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience to fulfill this Subject Matter Expert (SME) role and will be well-versed in contemporary surveying and mapping methodologies, including traditional surveying techniques as well as advanced technologies like LiDAR. The Design Survey Team is tasked with the acquisition of survey and mapping data essential for the Engineering Design Team within KIE. Our services guarantee that the design survey collection aligns with the design timeline and adheres to Kiewit's quality benchmarks.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design-Build team is at the forefront of encouraging clients to engage Kiewit at every phase of design-build projects. Responsibilities

  • Analyze client Request for Proposal (RFP) documents to determine the estimating and design survey requirements.
  • Develop RFP packets for third-party survey vendors, ensuring all necessary deliverables and timelines are clearly outlined.
  • Assess responses to proposals and prepare recommendations for the project team based on project specifications, including skill level, cost, availability, and licensing.
  • Collaborate with our corporate business group to establish Master Service Agreements and Task Orders for the required services.
  • Serve as the onsite representative for third-party vendors to ensure compliance with Kiewit's Safety protocols.
  • Act as a liaison between third-party vendors and KIE's Existing Conditions Team.
  • Ensure adherence to Quality Control procedures to confirm that data is delivered accurately and punctually.
  • Coordinate all design survey requests with the selected vendor to meet design timelines and expectations.

Qualifications

  • Active Professional Land Surveyor License (PLS, PS, LS, PSM, RLS) or LSIT certification in any state preferred.
  • 10+ years of combined experience in Design Survey and Construction Survey.
  • 5+ years of exposure to LiDAR (Terrestrial, Mobile, Aerial) and collection experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Strong understanding of State Plane coordinate systems (grid vs. ground).
  • Survey experience in both office and field operations.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following surveying/design software at an intermediate level: Trimble Business Center, Bentley Microstation (InRoads/OpenRoads Designer), or Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of drone surveying applications is essential (Part 107 license is advantageous).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to establish standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving/analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Located in or willing to relocate to Denver, CO.

Base Compensation: $110,000 - $140,000

(Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
