Position Overview:

The Lead Operator is tasked with the essential duty of managing, operating, and supervising the maintenance of wastewater systems within their designated region. This role serves as the primary liaison and coordinator for all tasks related to the operation and maintenance (O & M) of the systems, ensuring that all work conducted by service personnel and operators under their guidance meets the highest standards.

Qualifications and Preferences:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent educational background.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience as a licensed wastewater or water operator, or a combination of education and experience that is equivalent, including experience with treatment facilities, collection and distribution systems, as well as pump and booster stations.
  • Possession of a Grade 5C certification issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or an equivalent certification in Connecticut, New Hampshire, or Rhode Island.
  • Willingness and capability to be on-call during nights and weekends as required.
  • Proficient in reviewing, interpreting, and utilizing information from blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory standards of the states that fall within the assigned service area.
  • A valid, unrestricted driver's license is mandatory.
  • Competence in using computers, tablets, and other electronic devices is essential.
