Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for enhancing operational efficiency, product quality, and overall productivity within our steel manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a pivotal leader in cross-functional teams for various projects and initiatives.
  • Oversee real-time monitoring of supervisory control systems related to steel mill operations, ensuring optimal performance of both hardware and software.
  • Conduct research and analysis to design and maintain advanced manufacturing control systems aimed at continuous process improvement.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations, interpreting findings and offering actionable recommendations.
  • Develop customized software solutions, including programming and database configurations for effective tracking and communication.
  • Implement and sustain software applications that support mill processes, including product tracking and data analysis.
  • Identify and evaluate production projects, applying sophisticated engineering techniques to address complex challenges and provide management with informed recommendations.
  • Manage and maintain networking technologies and high-speed data transmission systems.
  • Foster positive relationships with union personnel, contractors, and operational teams.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or computer-related discipline, such as Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience in software development and system maintenance within an industrial context.
  • Proficiency in programming languages including C, C#, Fortran, VB.NET, Java/JavaScript, C++, Python, and Microsoft SQL.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerBI.
  • Basic knowledge of computer networking principles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex programming logic.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Experience working effectively in a self-directed team environment.
  • Availability for rotational weekend and on-call support as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of experience in a related field with a bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science.
  • Experience with various programming languages and database management systems.
  • Familiarity with process modeling and direct control systems such as PLC and DCS.
  • Knowledge of Windows and/or VMS server operating systems.
  • Understanding of control theory and project management principles.
