Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is seeking a qualified Senior Automation Control Engineer to join our operations. This role is pivotal in delivering Level 2 Supervisory Automation support aimed at enhancing efficiency, quality, and productivity within our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a leader in cross-functional teams for special projects and initiatives.
  • Oversee real-time monitoring of supervisory computer systems related to steel mill operations, including the upkeep of hardware and software.
  • Engage in the research, analysis, design, and maintenance of manufacturing control systems to drive continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and present findings, offering insightful conclusions and recommendations.
  • Develop custom software solutions, including programming code and database configurations for tracking and communication systems.
  • Implement and maintain software pertinent to mill processes, such as product tracking and data analysis.
  • Identify and evaluate production projects, applying advanced engineering techniques to resolve complex challenges.
  • Manage relationships with union personnel, contractors, and operational teams.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or computer-related field, such as Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in software development and system maintenance within a technical team.
  • Proficiency in programming languages including C, C#, Fortran, VB.NET, Java/JavaScript, C++, Python, and Microsoft SQL.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic knowledge of computer networking.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex programming logic.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in a self-directed team environment.
  • Availability for rotational weekend and on-call support as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of relevant experience and a degree in engineering or computer science.
  • Experience with various programming languages and database management systems.
  • Familiarity with process modeling and control systems.
  • Knowledge of Windows and/or VMS server operating systems.
  • Understanding of control theory and project management principles.
